This 6-module training course explores the foundations of Animal-Assisted Interventions. In this course, you will learn the history of AAIs, uses of AAI, current research and studies and ethical considerations to this therapeutic model.

What You'll Learn
Animal-Assisted Intervention continues to grow in popularity, but there are few programs available to learn more about this approach. This 6 module course explores the origins of animal-assisted interventions, the ethical considerations when using this modality and what the current research is saying about this approach. The online course format allows participants to study and learn at their convenience. You will also gain access to our Facebook Group for further discussion and support in the world of AAI! By the end of this course you will be able to:
- Describe and explain the different terms and concepts associated with animal-assisted intervention,
- Distinguish what animals may be incorporated into AAI and different populations that may benefit from AAI and those that may not,
- Understand ethical considerations when incorporating AAI programs,
- Have deeper knowledge of current research findings on animal-assisted interventions,
- And so much more!
After completing this course, you will have the knowledge and competency to add several different types on animal-assisted interventions programs in a variety of settings! You will also have access to our private Facebook group for continued support and learning on all things AAI from colleagues who also work with animals in practice.

Penny, a 7 year old terrier mix has been a co-therapist for 6 years and is excited to share that knowledge with you! Lyndsay Wright, your co-facilitator for this course is a Registered Psychologist and a Certified Animal-Assisted Therapy Professional. Lyndsay has been incorporating animals into her work for almost 10 years. She has vast experience working with a variety of animals in group settings, agency programs and private practice. Our advanced course, Applications of AAT takes a deeper look into animal-assisted therapy and how to introduce animals into your program. This course focuses on the application of AAT and includes consultation hours with peers and the instructor.
